i don’t believe i have shared this yet: some of my work can be purchased at shopSCAD, the store of work by Savannah College of Art and Design’s students and alumni. They can be found online as well, right here. I never thought I’d get into creating jewelry, but during my art-starved time working at the PR company, I had a bit of fun putting my sketches on shrinkable plastic in order to get it up and out there. It was miss cook of cookie crumbs that introduced me to the idea of shrinky-dinks as i was musing aloud about what surfaces i could experiment with next.

I also have work selling at The New Museum in New York City: Sketchbook Sewing Kits. They consist of six hand-drawn buttons (as in the kind you sew on clothing, with four holes punched in them), again on shrinkable plastic, with yarn, needles, thimble, and travel scissors all packaged in a bright sheer bag. They can’t be found online, unfortunately, and every time I create new batches I have not been clever enough yet to photograph them. Next time they order a new batch I will make sure I do so. Silly, really.

I wandered around the Renegade Craft Fair in McCarren Park this weekend, and the nicest part was running into Cindy Tomczykart. I bought the above letterpress print, called Bluegrass Birds, from her on Etsy a few weeks ago. Looking at her prints, I was starting to get the sneaking suspicion that she was the artist (because of course I had forgotten her name) when she lifted up this print. We got to chatting and found out we both work for stationery companies, though she has a lot more discipline than me when it comes to doing her own art after work hours. She is doing amazing stuff and working a day job, which is an inspiring feat. I have a very hard time doing my own work after clocking out (you may have noticed). Seeing her going out there and doing this works like a good swift kick to the bum.
Take a look at Cindy’s Etsy shop! She also heads Paper Parasol Press.
